Continuing Students

Welcome back to CCAS, Continuing Students!

November is enrollment season!
As sophomores and juniors, it’s time to review where you’ve been and think more about where you want to be in the coming year. What did you learn about your skills and interests during your first year on campus? How can you start to focus on those areas both in the classroom and through extracurricular activities like volunteering, part-time jobs, and internships? Here are some ideas to help you answer those questions and make decisions about majors and careers:
Research majors! Use the list provided at http://pubs.wisc.edu/ug/majors.html to find out major requirements. Note any pre-requisites needed so you can start on those sooner rather than later. Also take note if the major has a competitive admission process

Reflect on your academic strengths and interests: what things do you tend to do well in? What topics interest you? Which student organizations, volunteer experiences and part-time jobs will help you learn more? Use the “Action Plan Tool Kit” to connect to opportunities that will help you learn more: (link to CCAS website, Action Plan Tool Kit here).

Schedule an appointment with a career advisor in our Exploration Center for Majors & Careers (EC). Participate in a “Choosing a Major” or “Career Exploration” workshop in the EC. Consider taking an assessment to generate ideas about majors and careers. For more info on how to schedule an appointment or do any of the above, visit the following link: http://www.ccas.wisc.edu/expCenter.html
