The University of Wisconsin offers more than 150 majors in eight Schools and Colleges. Cross-College Advising Service (CCAS) advisors work with students who want to keep their options open or would like to take some courses and learn more about their interests before choosing a major.
Beginning college without a predetermined path is very common. Each year, about one-third of the incoming class begins their UW-Madison career by working with a CCAS advisor at SOAR. Many other students who may have begun college with a particular major in mind also find their way to us when they want

If so, you may benefit from working with a CCAS advisor at SOAR. CCAS advisors are knowledgeable about all of the undergraduate programs and specialize in helping exploring students find the information and experiences they need to make major- and career-related decisions.
